The Council has created three sets of Hispanic or Latino population profiles using the 2000 Census data. Each set highlights different demographic characteristics of the Hispanic or Latino population.

All statistics will be updated with the release of Census 2010 information

Hispanic or Latino Origin

The following Hispanic- or Latino-origin hierarchy was available from the U.S. Census Bureau. A Hispanic or Latino-origin demographic profile was created for each specific origin except Uruguayan. Since the data sets are hierarchical, umbrella categories, such as Central American, include the Hispanic- or Latino-origins listed under them plus other origins which may not have been delineated by the U.S. Census Bureau. For example, Belizean is not listed separately under the Central American category, but Belizeans are included in the Central American figures.
