14 Local Latino Artists Selected for 2010 Latino Video Diaries

In May 2009, the Minnesota State Legislature asked the Minnesota Humanities Center and the Chicano Latino Affairs Council (CLAC) to collaboratively create new programs and events that celebrate and preserve the artistic, historical, and cultural heritages of the communities represented by the council. CLAC carried out a survey among Latinos to capture their vision of future contributions. Latino artists were then asked to portray this vision through their media. Both the interviewees and the artists are being filmed in a one-hour tpt documentary. It will air on tpt's Minnesota Channel during August 2010. With the assistance of the Humanities Center, classroom instructional materials will be distributed along with the video and will be also available in libraries throughout the state.
